First images from Ian Redd Photography

Yay! :-)

Ian Redd sent me the first edited images from my test shoot the other week. This is Megan, the lovely actress who stepped in at the last minute when my first girl couldn’t make it (a massive thankyou to Megan for that!!):

The first look for Megan was a simple, classic cat eye (inspired by the 1940′s/50′s), heavy contouring of the lid with a taupy brown and a bit of natural lip stain on her mouth. I filled in her eyebrows a bit but messed them up a little too as I like the contrast between the clean winged cat eye and the messy hair of her brows. I also used very long lashes from MAC ( I foget which style/number) on her top lashes.

The second look was slightly inspired by the 20′s, dark eyes and pouty cupid bow mouth, but I winged the smokey eye out a bit to suit Megans face and gave her a messy red pout. There’s red over her eyelid and into the inner corner of her eyes for a slightly vampy addition, and added lashes just below her bottom lash line at the outer corner for extra drama (again from MAC, Yay for Pro Discounts!! ;-) )

Whilst doing more research about what kind of images to put into a make-up portfolio, I came across a post that said to stay well clear of “headshot” style images. These probably come under that catagory (which makes sense as Ian is a popular headshot photographer), but I think they’re nice images to start me off, and the whole shoot experience was great practice. Of course, I’ll continue to find more projects to work on and continually add to/change my portfolio (both online and hard copy).

More images still to come of Megan and of Clarissa :-)
