Everyone’s welcome here!
As for me, my name is Kirsty. I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy, with dirt under my nails and scrapes on my knees. I only mention this because a lot of people think of make-up as something for only the girliest and well manicured amongst us, and I disagree. Make-up is for everybody!
I’ve had a love of make-up since my first set of Barbie eye shadows. From having one eyelid pink and the other blue (hey, I was 6 and it was the 80′s!), through black eyeliner and Heather Shimmer lipstick, past pale lips with dark lip liner and neutral browns with super thick eye lashes, I’ve certainly had some fun. Some people see make-up as being superficial, but I’m sure you’ll agree that this is simply not true. It can be a great form of self expression or character creation. It can be Art! Make-up can help a bride feel confident about spending her day as the focus of everybody she loves. It can give a teenager the confidence to go into school with their head held high. If something as simple as a lip gloss can give somebody the comfort to go out and face the world then I’m all for it!
I’ve worked on several projects since moving to Vancouver and am loving the variety of working with different people on different types of work from a Sci-Fi tv pilot, helping with a wedding party of 10 to working on a friends personal video of self discovery. On my way to building a fully fledged career in Make-up Artistry, I thought I would try and help those of you who are in similar situations (or who simply love make-up) by collecting tips, reviewing books and make-up and sharing my journey with you. Even if no-one is out there reading this, it’s a great way to keep myself focused!
I hope I’m helpful (or at least entertaining) !
