I got a phone call on Saturday from Jasmine, one of the models I worked on the the RISE fashion show. She had been asked to do a photo shoot for the RISE website but they didnt have a Make-up Artist so she called me.
I had to be at work at 4pm, but I was to meet her to start her make-up (and hair) at 1pm so there was plenty of time. When I got there I had a second model too that Jasmine hadn’t know about! Luckily, I had enough time to do them both before I had to leave (I took my work uniform with me so that I could just go straight to work afterwards if need be). Everything was kept very clean and fresh with simple, youthful hairstyles. I came to the rescue with some pins when one of the models was too thin for one of the dresses, haha, and left them some bits and pieces such as lipstick in case they needed to touch up after I’d gone. I can’t image they needed to, but it’s better to be safe than sorry
I would have prefered to be there for the whole shoot, but it was a last minute thing and needs must!
Looking forward to seeing the end results!
Although yesterday was a busy day it was a lot of fun!
The goth themed shoot went well, with Melanie Madill as model, Anna Krasnova as photographer and myself as make-up artist. There was supposed to be a second model, but she had to cancel a few days ago, not sure why. We had time for two looks, but then I had to leave due to prior engagements but I left them a few bits and pieces such as lipstick in case they needed to touch up during the last bit of the shoot.
The images were mostly headshot style as Anna was focusing on her lighting and composition. We all took bits and pieces for props, clothing and the like (including a blond wig that Anna brought with her and Mel was dying to get her hands on, haha!). We didn’t have a hairstylist and none of us are particularly skilled with hair so I gave it a go and we kept things simple and used a lot of hairspray to keep things where we wanted it, hahaha (poor Mel)! Anna sent me a couple of images this morning and it looks like they had a go with the wig after I left I’m not gonna put up the images she sent as she says they’re by no means the best fromt he day, so you’ll just had to wait for the final products that she’ll send once she’s finished post-processing
Greg’s work is able to sponsor him to stay and work for them for another year, which means we get to stay in Vancouver for a bit longer!!
Vancouver seems like a great place for us both with regards to work. Greg has a job he enjoys, in a city he likes, with great weather in summer (always nice) and I will hopefully get some more work experience on projects in the area. There are a few web-sites such as Craigs List where people can advertise the tv/film/photography projects that they need help with, so hopefully I’ll be able to find some things to work on in my spare time and build up my portfolio :-).
The only problem with being able to stay is that we can’t leave Canada while our visa applications are being processed, which means I’m not able to visit family and friends back home for another few months. So sad, but at least we can now time our home visit for the time when my pregnant sister is due
Ups and downs, swings and round-abouts!
